Pornography

Addiction steels away lives, thoughts, and happiness in our lives. Some of these addictions start off small and sneak up upon the most unlikely subjects. Pornography is an addiction that destroys families, enslaves lives, and stops eternal progression. Many times people may think that little things won't bother them but eventually find themselves thinking uncleanly and seeking out more. We are constantly warned against the terrors and evils of pornography but some unfortunate individuals still find themselves trapped. Porn destroys the spirit and the soul. It is heartbreaking to watch individuals leave true happiness because the devil got to them through little things.

I have a family member that was exposed to this kind of evil at a very young age and he didn't tell anyone about it until very recently. It was very heartbreaking for his family to hear and to know that he had been addicted to it for most of his life. We immediately offered to help but he was so hooked that he has walked away from the gospel and into a life of darkness.We need to be careful at what we are watching on TV, seeing on the Internet, and even magazines. This evil of pornography will sneak up on us if we are not careful. Once we get a little taste, it is hard to stop. Don't let media fool us that wrong is right.The world will try to make something so wrong look good and enjoyable. If we are careful we can avoid this terrible temptation and continue to strive for happiness.

Don't let pornography stop us from listening and receiving blessings from our Heavenly Father. Pornography is a challenge in our lives and can become an unbreakable addiction, but through repentance, guidance from priesthood leaders, and constantly seeking help from our Savior, this corrupting addiction can be overcome.
